Hello,

I have a salary account with Citibank so I chose Citibank for a foreign currency DD. Now, after a month of sending my application to NS, when I approached them asking the DD encashment info, they are repeating like a stuck tape, "Sorry Sir, we cannot provide that information."

This is SO goddamn frustrating.

DD encashment is an important mini-milestone for a new applicant since it is the first sign about the progress of your application.

Anyone else who had a similar exp from Citibank or any other bank?

I took my DD from ThomasCook and they are quite receptive but they dont have the information with them readily. They have a process to send an email to some Canadian agency in mumbai (details not provided by Thomascook) and on a reply from there, is my query answered. So its virtually becoming difficult for me to track this as I have to be constantly behind the local thomascook guys for this info.

Citibank has the information. The reason they are not providing it to you since it is a back end processing. They will have to contact their back end office for it and the officer might have said no to you just to reduce his/her work. Goto them again and ask them its your right to know such info. Let me know the country you in and accordingly I can suggest you what to do.

Rocky, Thanks a bunch for the words.

This is with Citibank India. Yes, they have been slackers. In fact, over the phone, the lady who had signed the DD even denied having entertained such a DD request from any customer. Later, I scanned the photocopy of the DD and mailed it to her boss; that's when they acknowledged having issued such a DD.

Even more annoying was the fact that the lady said, "Sir, we cannot inform you whether the DD has been encashed or not but we can give you the account number to which it got encashed!!!" Now, HOW freaking laughable is that!

I will have to barge into the Citibank branch and talk to the branch manager straightaway.

:-)
head.customercare @ citi.com, write and email also to this email ID(Explain the who situation, just for records) and visit the branch and meet the Branch Manager. See its your write to know the information. These people are fools and have made Citi what it is now. Its logical, if a payment has been made via bank, a bank would always know that when did the receiver received it.

These people just do not know how to cooperate and always take things lightly. Hope you get your information out.

Best of luck
