Roberto,You have several options available to you.
If your wife sponsored you for permanent residency (as her spouse) and your application was submitted from within Canada, then you should be entitled to apply for an "open" employment authorization (work permit) as soon as you receive official notice that you have been exempted from applying for permanent residence from outside of Canada. An "open" employment authorization entitles you to work at almost any job in Canada.
If your wife did not sponsor you from within Canada, then the employment authorization application process may be more complicated. The general rule is that an employment authorization will only be issued after a job offer has been approved (validated) by a Human Resources Development Centre. This validation process may be complex and time-consuming, depending on your qualifications and the nature of the local labour market. Fortunately, many exemptions from the validation requirement exist. Your eligibility for such an exemption will depend upon your education and work background, as well as the nature of your proposed employment.
