We've sold some software to a canadian company and now we are deploying it. They would like me to go for about 6 months to help out. Do I have to get an employment authorization? How long would that approximately take? They would like me to be there yesterday? What kind of time frame are we looking at? 1 month??? 2 ???

The time frame may range from one day (i.e., conclusion at the port of entry) to several months (i.e., if validation of the job offer is required. Your nationality, your qualifications, and the existence of a sales contract for the service including such services would also play a factor.
