"Self-Employed/Non-Residents"

We hope to buy property in Canada (we are US Citizens) and would like to be self-employed while living in Canada, several months per year. Possibly hobby farming. What restrictions are there if any, and are there any Web-Links that you recommend.

As a citizen of the USA, you would be eligible to seek temporary admissionto Canada at a port of entry without obtaining a passport visa. If, however, you wish to engage in employment within Canada, even in a self-employed capacity, you would be required to obtain an employment authorization.

The scope of your hobby farming or other employment would determine if you require such an authorization, are exempted from such, or are exempted from the requirement for validation requirements.
