"H1-B in US transfering to company's Canada branch"

   Hi,
I am an h1b software consultant employed by a large software company based in the United States. Working for the same company for nearly 5 years. I was hoping to transfer to the company's Canada office for various reasons. I was wondering in order to achieve this, do I need to be re-hired by the Canada branch and then they will sponsor me for a work permit, or is there another way in which the process is more seamless. I read something about GAT and intra company transfers...(don't know if that is applicable or not)
Any advice on this issue would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
S.

The details of your qualifications and of the nature of the job offer would determine the available avenues for employment authorization at the Canadian division of your company. I would suggest that you complete a Temporary Employment online assessment in order to determine the possibilities.
