"work authorization following graduation"

Hello

I am a graduate student and would like to take the opportunity to work for a year in Canada following my graduation. However I am confused about the requirement to find a job related to my field of study. I am studying for a Master of Arts involving interdisciplinary studies.
How strict is the requirement?

The requirement is strict in that the job offer must be related to the field of the applicant's studies. The immigration official, however, does have discretionary authority allowing for the interpretation of what occupations may be considered consistent. If a clear connection can be demonstrated, then our experience has been that immigration officials do interpret this requirement with some lenience.
