"temporary to permanent (is all the process abroad?)"

I have been in Canada for a couple of months now on a 2-year work permit. I would like to apply for permanent residence. I understand that I need to apply to an office abroad. However, should I expect the authorities to ask me to go for an interview/medical check in the UK instead of in Canada??? Will they ask me to fly back to the UK for it while I am supposed to be working here in Canada? If so, is there any way around it?

In response to message #0

Unless significant Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds can be demonstrated, you will be required to submit the application for permanent resident status to a visa office abroad, and may be required to attend a selection interview at that location.

Although the UK is one option, you may also seek to submit the application in the USA. If you feel that you will be able to attend an interview there, then the travel required for an interview may be shorter.
