I have 2 years of experience in India as a graphics/web designer and have 3 major indian urls to my credit. I have to say that where we find the most demand is in E-Commerce technology, whether in development or architecture. Java (applets and Servlets), Corba, Visual Age, etc...this is what is hot right now. You might have a little difficulty with only two years experience but it is worth a shot. As far as telephone interviews are concerned, first interviews can be done over the phone but usually an offer will come after a face to face interview is held. Gawd knows why in my never humble opinion but any old how, it's worth having a look at the language. It is similar to html though way less forgiving about nested tags and the image tags are weird. I'm not saying that this will last but it is useful to know what the trends are. A few years back I was coding for WebTV which was supposed to take the world by storm and didn't really and in the end they had to improve the hardware to parse the software rather than coding the other way around.
