"Hello Harry"

Harry,

I'am a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Philippines,twenty-five (25) years of age and single.

My work experience:

November of 1999 to February of 2001, I was assigned to the position of Technical Support Engineer for Cable TV Company. I supervised linemen team and cable splicers team in installation and splicing of coaxial cable; tested and troubleshoot reverse, split and transpose pair of cable; and calibrated electrical and electronic equipment and instruments according to technical manuals and written instructions.

February of 2001 to present, I'am working as an Associate Test Engineer for Automotive Industry. I design test fixtures, assembles and tests prototype according to general instruction; develops test procedure and evaluation of incoming electronic components base on their given specification to approve supplier process and part quality levels; sets up and operates specialized and standard test equipment for diagnosis, testing and analysis of the performance of electrical and electronic modules according to general instruction given by the different car-lines; and writes specifications, schedules and technical reports and control schedules and budgets.

Can you please tell me about what are my chances applying for Canadian Immigration.

PLEASE HELP ME...

jojo

   Jojo,

First of all, I need to understand what you are applying for. Are you wanting a Work Authorization (Work Visa) or Permanent Residency. If you apply for residency, it is possible yet can take some time and the best person to tell you about that is David Cohen who also has a Conference on this site. If it is regarding a work visa, then it may be a little more difficult.

It all depends on the scarcity of the skill. From my findings, automotive test engineers are not considered a scarce skill in Canada at the moment. There have been some automobile plant closures in the last 10 years here and potentially more to come. Your experience is barely 4 years which would make it that much more difficult to land an offer of employment that would lead to a work visa.

From my viewpoint, if you do wish to come to Canada, your best option would be for permanent residency. Please contact David Cohen for more information.

Harry
