Hello:I recently submitted my application for immigration as a skilled worker (Financial Auditor/Accountant) through your office. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from the State University of New York, Buffalo all 4 parts of the CPA exam. I have 23 months of qualified work experience as an auditor with KPMG LLP in New York City. Also, I recently completed my Master's in Economics at the University at Buffalo. However, I am not licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State since I did not meet the 24 months qualified work experience requirement.
Would I be able to gain employment as an financial auditor in Ontario? More importantly, will this fact adversely affect my application? From your reply to an earlier email, I have the impression that I need to be a Chartered Accountant before I can be employed by an external audit firm (like KPMG LLP or Ernst and Young). My application to be licensed as a CPA in New Jersey is pending since New Jersey only requires 1 year of qualified work experience. Based on my research, if I get licensed in New Jersey, it seems to me that I will be able to apply for a CA designation after working for an additional 7 months and passing the reciprocity exam.
Thank you.
Regards,
Eric Koh
