   Ruchika,

I need to tell you that the market is very competitive right now. Many of our hi-tech companies here have been downsizing on account of the economy. Toronto is where most of the head offices for these companies are based. It might be tough to find something in E-Commerce for the time being. Hopefully things will pick up for the end of the year.

If I were you, I would try to develop a network of contacts. This means that you will need to do a lot of work researching companies and going to job fairs once you get here. Monster.ca, Jobbus.com, Canadiancareers.com and Jobboom.com are good sites that are totally dedicated to Canada. They have a lot of information on them that can help in developing contacts.

Best of luck

Harry

   Hi Harry,
Thanks for your advice so far.
What exactly do you mean by developing contacts ?
Should they be of the placement consultants or directly with the HR managers of companies who hire people ?
Do you think any kind of IT certification (MCP in SQL 7.0)could help me get a better job ?
How is the Canadian market responding to Dot Net technologies? I will do a short course on dot net while I am in India if the scope is better there?
Is it also necessary for me to learn French before coming there?
Please do advice,
Regards,
Ruchika.
