"time for job hunt for an IT person"
Hi,
Could you tell me what time frame should one approx expect to get a job after landing in canada, the kind of profile I have six years of IT experience, including 3 years of java, and all six years in oracle some in powerbuilder too. I have some object oriented design experience too

How should decide the place to land, and how much time can expect before getting a decent job matching my profile , so I can settle

Rgu,

So sorry for the delay in my reply. I overlooked your question and I apologize. Someone with your profile shouldn't wait too long to find employment. If you have the following under your belt than it should be even quicker: Java Applets, Servlets, Visual Age, CORBA and Weblogic or Websphere. These are highly used in e-commerce development and are in high demand. Otherwise, there is still a high demand for I.T professionals, but the key will be your communication skills. I have posted this in previous notes but I can't emphasize it enough. Your communication skills will get you the job. Many brilliant technical people are rejected everyday simply for their weak communication skills. EVERYTHING THAT WE DO IS SALES!!! We are all salespeople. We need to be able to communicate our ideas, solutions and products with conviction and assurance. If you have this, my friend, you'll do ok.
