"Finding a Job."
First of All I would like to congratulate all of you for this great community. Great idea and also a great tool for us planning about moving to Canada.

I am an Accountant in the post submission process assisted by Mr. Cohen firm and my questions would be.

a)Is there anything I could or should be doing in order to become familiar with the job market?

b) I am planning about settling down in Vancouver. are there any other good markets for Financial careers jobs specially manufacturing.?

c) Would it be advisable to start sending resumes?

d) Any advice?

Thanks

Cristian

1. "RE: Finding a Job."
Cristian,

I work a lot with Finance professionals and I can tell you that there is no shortage of accounting positions across the country. There really isn't one area better than another but probably the three best would be Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. I have to say however that an accounting designation (CMA CGA or CA) will help very much. These designations are becoming, more and more, a requirement. Also, get a good understanding of Canadian and Provincial taxation laws. Canada is a very unique place and a thorough understanding of it's financial processes is mandatory.

In regards to becoming familiar with the job market here, the best and most efficient way is through the net. Check out Monster.ca and Canadiancareers.com and look through there website postings.

Hope this helps,

Harry
