afzalbaig (1 posts) 06-Feb-01, 08:21 PM (GMT) "Job Search as an Immigrant" All experts, I have immigrant status as a IT guy, but still working on my present job and not yet visited Canada i.e. still do not insurance, SIN and other formalities completed. Ideally what I feel is that I should get a job searched on the net and then migrate. My personal feeling is that this way: 1. It would be more of career move from one location to another location - without any break 2. Could be beneficial for both employee and employers to negotiate package with better terms 3. Would be most cost effective, on immigrant part I appreciate if you can share your experience and advise. Is it worth responding to job posting on the net? Keep in mind, companies will only hire from abroad if the skill set cannot be found locally. This means that it usually happens for candidates that are deemed a specialist in their field.
