"Help is teaching not a general occupation ?"
I have a BSc Hons Degree in Psychology, Human Biology, Art ,Philosophy and Sociology. I have more recently trained as a primary school teacher and am in my first teaching post which began in September 2000. I have many years experience working with children and the general public in a variety of roles.

I would love to move to Canada in two years time but I am having difficulty finding out if this is possible .

I cannot find any details about my profession in relation to permanent residence in Canada. I found it strange not to be on the occupations list .I am not intending to apply untill 2002 so I will have at least 18 months experience.

Can you help, I don`t want to change profession as I love my job very much but I also would love to live in Canada.

Annie

There is not enough employment in the teaching field in Canada to warrant putting it on the occupations list. I realize the importance of education yet the Government has to decide whether it wants to put its money into healthcare, infrastructure, employment, education or raises for themselves. Healthcare and Education always seem to suffer. The positive look to the situation is that eventually many of our current teachers will be retiring (something that we are seeing now) and maybe there will be more opportunity in this field. For the time being, it just isn't the case.

Don't lose hope
