"The best way to bring my fiance into Canada."

I was born in Canada, and have lived here my whole life. I am a computer programmer for a reputable company. I make over $40,000/year in salary. My fiancé was born in the US, and has lived there her whole life. She a MSW (Masters in Social Work). We are getting married in November 2003. The wedding is going to take place in her home town of Dallas, Texas.

As per all the websites that I visited, I was under the impression that we should fill out a Conjugal Visa application for her, and when she becomes approved, she will be able to move to Canada.

Is this the only way for us to go about getting her into Canada? Would getting married by a judge in Canada be more appropriate?

The provisions of conjugal partner may be applicable so long as you can demonstrate that you have been in a "conjugal relationship." This increases the complexity of the case somewhat, as a married couple need only demonstrate a marriage certificate which is more straightforward. Neither approach is more appropriate, however.
