"vacation home in Canada"

We are in the process of buying a home in Nova Scotia, understanding that we will be limited to spending 180 days per year there. Can we ship or bring household goods from the US to the house. We are retiring and selling our home in Massachusetts and will be "on the road" while in the US.

We will certainly appreciate any guidance you can give us in this area. Great sight. We love Canada.

There is no bar to shipping your belongings to the property in Canada. The issue that it raises, however, is whether or not you have a bona-fide intent to reside only temporarily in Canada. The absence of a fixed residence in the USA and the shipment of all your belongings to a Canadian residence could create the impression that you intend to remain in Canada permanently. Such an impression could lead to refusal of admission as a visitor.
