"Dependent Greencards"

I recieved my Permanent Residency in February 2001. It was recieved because of my husband through the self-employed category. My husband is unable to stay in Canada. Is my PR status attached to my husband? Though my husband does not intend to stay in Canada I do intend to move soon to Canada. Can I maintain my PR status if I stay in Canada alone even if the PR was given because of my husband? Will I lose my status if my husband loses it even if I am working and staying in Canada.

Your Permanent Resident status is not dependant on your husband. If he leaves Canada but you stay, you will maintain your status. However, if you are outside of Canada for more than 183 days in a 12-month period without a Returning Resident Permit (under the current system), you can lose your status, even if your husband still has his.
