"Delay in receipt of Landing papers/Visa"

   Dear Sir,
My family and myself had undergone the Medicals together in June,2001 last year and had already submitted the Right of Landing fees and all other relevant documents asked for within the stipulated time period. But till today we haven't received the all important Visa.Incidentally our case was a waiver case.
We are from India and filed our case in New Delhi, India.
Will you please advice us on this issue as to why such a long period is being taken to issue the same.
Also advice us whether we should be closing down our occuptions in India before the Visa arrives, so that we can fly out immediately as soon as it arrives.

Warm Regards
Anirban & Arunima

In most cases, the Canadian processing centers will conduct security background checks after the interview, or after an interview waiver has been granted.

In our experience, the security background checks for applicants within India usually take an average of approximately 6 months. The precise time can vary greatly, however, depending upon the applicant's background, as well as how many different regions of the world that applicant has lived within, in the past. (In fact it is not unheard of for the security background check phase to last upwards of 18 months, although that is not common, and appears to be a maximum.)

In your particular case a status inquiry may be in order, to verify that the latest submitted items, including the medical examination results, have been received.

Please note that the results of the medical examination are only valid for one year from the date of the examination. Therefore, since yours will be expiring soon, you may be requested to undergo another examination before your visas are issued.

Your visa, once issued, while only be valid for one year from the date the medical examination was performed. If the visa is not issued before June 2002 you may have to undergo a second medical examination.
