"Transfer of funds"

   Hi

I wonder if anyone might be able to help me out with the following questions?

About six weeks ago I went through immigration at Toronto airport and gave them my PR visa and explained that I had decided to enter Canada ahead of my wife and two children. I also explained that I was returning back to the UK after two weeks stay in Canada. I showed them proof of funds which were available in the UK. Immigration said that I had to have the funds on me while entering the country and asked for the funds to be transferred to Canada within one month. I am now back in the UK and will be leaving for Canada with my wife and children in 15 days. I want to transfer my money directly to my Canadian bank account instead of taking it in cheque form through immigration. Do you know if immigration would accept this as proof of funds? I can supply them with a statement, proof that I have the bank account and receipt of transfer from the UK to Canada. Would this be OK or should I take a cheque with me instead?

Also, I submitted an inventory list of items I wanted to bring into the country which was checked and approved by customs. However, there are now a few more items I wish to ship to Canada from the UK which were not on the original list. Will I have a problem at customs or immigration if I explain this and show them a revised inventory?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phill

Yes, transferring settlement funds into a Canadian Bank account, and then providing documentation of that account, as well as the new account balance, is considered to be sufficient proof of having transferred settlement funds.

In terms of "inventory lists", once the applicant has landed and provided an inventory list, it is too late to add to that list. However, in this particular case, your wife is also permitted to provide a list at the time of her landing, and may thus be able to provide a listing of the additional possessions.
