"UK/US citizen considering moving to Toronto to work"

I'm a UK citizen (currently staying in Scotland) who also has US citizenship. My current profession is freelance camera assistant (working on films, commercials etc.) with a background also of working in bookkeeping. I have been thinking about moving to Toronto. So I was wondering, being a UK/US citizen am I eligible to work in Canada? Can I fly out without any job in place and search for work when I am there? Any information would be greatly appreciated

There is nothing barring you from seeking admission to Canada as a visitor, and seeking employment while you are here. You cannot, however, begin working for a prospective employer until you have obtained an employment authorization, or unless there is a specific exemption from such under the circumstances. Your nationality, in itself, does not exempt you from these requirements, although US citizenship does allow you to benefit from the provisions of NAFTA.
