"visit US"

   Hi,
I am staying at the US - canadian border.
if i were to go across and spend a week wih my friends in US, then do i need to apply for a visa or just go ahead. What is the time duration that i can be in US in that case.

I have some of my friends who go regularly on weekends and holidays who return after 2 weeks. They are only checked at the border and then let in.Is that fine.

If you are a permanent resident of Canada who is also a citizen of a Commonwealth country, you may appear at a US port of entry without a passport visa. If you are a citizen of Canada, you may do the same.

If neither of the above applies, and unless otherwise exempt, you would be required to obtain a visitor visa prior to appearing at the US port of entry.
