I was in Toronto last month and managed to negotiate a job with a Canadian company.

My questions are

1- How much time does it take to usually process a temporary work permit (from CHC Islamabad, Pakistan) ? Pl. note my employer will arrange offer validation from HRDC.

2- I will apply for PR status from Buffolo while in Canada working temporarily. Will I have to pay a custom duty on the personal household goods which i bring in as a temporary worker?

3- Will i be able to bring my family along when on temporary work in Canada?

Excluding the time required for validation to be obtained, the process of an employment authorization would generally take 6-10 weeks. Family members are commonly granted visitor status for the duration of such an authorization.

Also, you should be able to take necessary belongings with you to Canada without taxation or duty implications.
