"visitor visa once in canada"

I am in the process of immigrating to Canada from the US to be married...My medical forms were totally completed the last week of June and I am still waiting approval...

My question is, once in Canada, as a landed immigrant, do I need to apply for a passport? in order to visit other contries on vacation...or do I use my US passport or the Visa I obtain once allowed to enter Canada?

You will not be eligible for a Canadian passport until you obtain citizenship. As such, you should ensure that your current passport remains valid for any travel purposes outside of Canada. Your landing documents will be attached to that passport to evidence your Canadian status.
