"Work in US Live in Canada P-Time"

I am Canadian and my husband is American. We want to work & live in the US for 4 days out of the week and live in Canada for the other 3 days (but not work in Canada). Does my husband have to apply for a visa? Will he have problems at Canadian customs? Also, does anything change if we decide to work & live in US 3 days and live in Canada for 4 days (but not work)out of the week.
Thank you, Vivian

If your husband intends to work or study in Canada while he is here, he would be required to obtain the proper authorization.

If he intends to simply reside in Canada, he may seek admission as a visitor on each occasion that he appears at a port of entry. He is not required to obtain a pssport visa to do so, but n each such occasion, his admissibility will be subject to the discretion of an immigration official. This creates a certain element of risk given the prospective number of entries he would be seeking.
