"where to apply for a visa"

   Hi all,

Firstly I would like to say that I find your web site is very informative and useful.
I need to attend a final Interview for a job offer in Toronto which will start in April as an IT consultant. I am currently a UK citizen. My question is that when I go to Canada to close this offer, can I stay there and apply for a work permit within Canada based on this job role or do I have to apply for it outside Canada e.g., in the USA.

Many Thanks

The application does have to be submitted to a visa office outside of Canada. In the cases of some employment authorizations, it may also be possible to process the application at a port of entry as well.

Visa offices in the USA or the UK would be suitable.
