"Sufficent Funds for Visit?"
 
   Hi!
I'm from the U.S. and I am planning on visiting Canada for 6 months this spring-summer. My question is how much money will be expected by the border crossing? I wrote to the Canadian Embassy in Seattle and they said that it was at the discretion of the border official. But I would really like to have a base idea. What factors, if any, contribute to the amount they expect? I would really really really appreciate any help anyone can give me as I've had no luck so far!

   You must be able to demonstrate sufficient funds to reasonably support yourself for the duration requested. There is not fixed amount, otherwise.
