"Transfer of funds"

   Hi,
I would be moving to Canada with my family in the next three months. I wish to know how I can transfer the funds that I have with me in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to Canada. My bankers in Dubai, Standard Chartered Bank have informed me that they do not have a branch in Canada. Are traveller's cheques safe? Can I easily convert them to cash in Canada? Any suggestions on this matter would be helpful.
Best regards
Tom

Direct Standard charterd Bank to make a demand draft in your name to their any counterpart/linked Bank in (city)canada and then after arriving you can open acct. and deposit DD . It may take few weeks to confirm recieving of payment in your bank, so must take cash or t.chequ for that period.

A wire transfer should be possible once you have opened a Canadian account, although you shold coordinate this with your present bank before delarting.

Otherwise, traveller's cheques are a safe method, but I believe it would be more expensive.
