"How do I take my current live-in caregiver with me to Canada?"
I have applied for permanent residence in Canada as a skilled professional. I am a Systems Consultant/Business Systems Analyst with in excess of 16 years experience in the Technology sector and hold a Masters in MIS. I have an 8 year old and due to the nature of my work, oftentimes long and irregular hours are required to meet deadlines. I have found it to be of unspeakable assistance to employ a live-in caregiver. She also is a caregiver at the National Children's Home for Orphans here in Kingston, Jamaica. How do I go about taking her or alternatively sending for her?

Details on Canada's live-in-caregiver program may be found in the June edition of the Canada Immigration Newsletter.

Provisions also exist by which an application for inclusion in your own application can be made as a de-facto family member. In reality, however, our experience is that approval of such requests is very uncommon.
