"RE: APPLICATION FOR STUDENT AUTHORISATION."
I am a citizen of the Gambia and has been offered admission to York University. I applied for the student authorisation in Dakar and my application has been approved. The immigration officer now wants me to transfer the tuition to the school before he grants me the student permit but my sponsor is current out of town on a business trip.

Do the Vanadian immigration officials grant conditional entry to students before they pay funds or is it a rigid law that students must prepay their tuition fees before entry into Canada.?

The reason why my sponsor travelled is because we thought I will not be asked to prepay the tuition. I was expecting to make payments after arrival in Canada.

Looking forward to seeing your feedback and advise. THanks.

Transfer of tuition is not a requirement in all cases of student authorization. An immigration officialdoes have the discretion, however, to make such a request to ensure that the applicant will be able to afford to properly enroll as a student in Canada.
