"Please Help!"
I moved to Canada with my fiance in August 2000. At the moment I have a visitor visa and my fiance has a work authorization visa. My fiance's place of employment is paying for him to apply for landed immigrant status and he wants to do it just now. Do I have to wait until we are married before I can apply for my landed immigrant status, as I know that he has to sponsor me, or is there any way that I can apply for it with him. I know I can't apply independantly as I do not have sufficient points. We are not getting married until July 2002, and at the moment I can't work because of my status and I desperately want to be able to work. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are married before he applies or during his application for permanent residence, you will be automatically included in his application as a dependant. If you do not wish to get married before the process is finalized and you are still in Canada, he can always apply for Inland sponsorship at a later date.
