"Attending an interview"
Hi

I've been invited & accepted to attend an interview in Canada in the next 10 days. I will not be 'landing' on this occassion, but plan to do so in April (my visa is valid until mid June).

Will this present a problem with Immigration in Ottawa when I arrive because I am there for an interview and will be leaving within a matter of days? I am a little apprehensive because although I have my resident visa, it is not my intention to officially 'land' on this occassion, and will be returning to the UK to organise my assets etc? On the other hand, stating that I am there for a job interview might make them think that I want to remain in the country as an illegal. How does one handle this situation?

Please help. It's a great job, and things are falling neatly into place!

Regards
Jess

You must seek admission as a visitor in order to attend this interview without landing. As long as you gain such admission, there is no difficulty in doing as you plan.

Given that you appear to be in possession of valid landing documents, there is certainly a reduced likelihood that an immigration official would suspect that you intend to remain in Canada illegally.
