"retiring psychology seeking immigration"
Iam a soon to retire psychology prof. with 30 years teaching experience in a San Francisco Bay Area community college. After several trips to Canada...most recently to Ottawa...I would like to explore the possiblity of retiring to Canada (Ottawa area). I would receive a pension of $US 45,000 per year. I have a wife who is a writer and researcher in Alzheimer's disease and a 9 year old daughter. Is it possible to immigrate to Canada under my circumstances?

1. "RE: retiring psychology seeking immigration"
Canada does not presently have provisions which allow for immigration on the basis of retirement. Other than the Family Class, the only program which might allow for such is the immigrant investor program.

Depending on the qualifications of yourself or your spouse, however, it may be possible to qualify in one of the independent programs.

Alternatively you may seek admission as a visitor, and renew and/or extend such repeatedly. This is risky, however.
