"Job without a SIN card"
First of all, many thanx to Mr Cohen and the whole team for handling my immigration case! It went extremely well, with no interview, in just 7 month in Buffalo.

I'm moving to Toronto next month and I already found a job there. A company wants me to start on the next day after landing, and they want my SIN number. I cannot land before because I have a job here in US.

From what I heard, it takes several weeks to get a SIN #. But in theory, as a landed immigrant I should be able to work from day 1.

How can this situation be resolved? Would they be able to pay me without a SIN# ?

Firstly, we are glad to have been able to work with you.

As soon as you land, proceed to a Human Resources Develeopment Canada office to apply for your Social Insurance Number. You are correct, that it may take several weeks to obtain your number, but you can obtain a temporary number immediately. See the following URL for the locations:
