"IS THIS REFUSAL???"
Dear Mr. Cohen,

Thanks for the professional helps and advices you've been giving to people.

I got married before my interview so I filled application form for her and since from Ukraine it is not possible to buy the bank draft to submit her application and the CHC London does not accept cash, so I had to send the applicaton to a friend in Canada who bought the draft there and later sent everything to the embassy through a courier service.

We finally had our interview yesterday at the CHC london. The interview was tough...rough! Lot of questios were asked concerning my jobs only to be told at the end of the interview that I am not qualified for the category I aplied, which is economist/researcher. The explanations and description of my job made the officer decide that i better fit into the marketing category. She said she's gonna look into it and see if
Canada needs specialists in that category.

The second problem we had was that she did not receive the application of my wife which we posted and were told was received at the embassy on the 23rd of december.

Thirdly the reference letter from my former employer was missing and she asked for the photocopy which I could not produce cos that was back in 1998 and the company no more exists but I brought a new one from my present employer where i've been working for a year plus now. After the interview she told us we should be expecting the decision of the embassy in 4-6wks time.

Pls. Mr. Cohen, what do u think, do we have any chance at all? Although she was kinda impressed with my wife's certificates which are Canadian and some kind of offers already from some employment agencies in Canada. It was actually difficult to tell her mood...stone cold, very unfriendly.

Any advise or comments would be highly appreciated cos we are in a very depressed mood now after travelling down here all the way from Ukraine and achieving almost nothing.

Without knowing all the details of your case, it is difficult to accurately predict the outcome of the interview.

It is not uncommon for interviewing officers to require additional time to make a decision, even in those cases that are approved. You have not stated anything that seems to suggest that a refusal is the only possibility in this case. In fact, some factors seem to be in your favour.

If the application for your spouse was received close to the time of your interview, it is possible that it had not yet reached the file. Depending on her qualifications, this may give your application enough of an additional push to get over the minimum requirements.
