"Returning after landing"
Dear Mr. Cohen,

I got my PR visa on March 2000 from Hongkong visa office and expiry date is 8 February 2001. I am landing in Vancouver on 17 January 2001 and will stay for only 1 week. The reason for this is that:
On 1 May 1999 I signed a two year contract to work in Vietnam and that contract will expired on 30 April 2001. I will definitely terminate the contract for moving to Canada permanently has been my dream. I will be back for two weeks to my home country and move permanently to Canada around 16 May 2001.

The question is will that be a problem, because I stayed for one week only although I will open a bank account apply for the SIN. I will be absent for 4 months.

If it is, is there any way that I can overcome the problem?

Thank you very much for your advise

Best regards,

Tony

An absence of 4 months following your landing should not have an impact on your application under the circumstances described. Try to retain documentation of your existing contract, and of your efforts to permanently relocate during that 4 month period. This would assist you upon your return in the case of any question.

The period allowed for stay out of Canada is 183 days.

I think it would be fine for you to stay out of Canada for a period of 183 days after the departure from Canada.

The moderator should be able to confirm.

Is there any other way to demonstrate that the intention is to move to Canada other than applying for SIN and opening a bank account ?
