"How long it takes after medicals?"
 
   I have applied for canadian immigration in October 2001 in skilled labor category.
Completed medicals in December 2002 and
sent all of the additional requested documents to the Consulate in Buffalo in January 2003. Also paid the ROLF at that time.

It's been more than 5 months and I did not get any further instructions from Consulate regarding my visa.

Wanted to know that how long is it taking currently to get visa after completion of medicals.

Replies are appreciated.

   The average time for the issuance of the visa is 12 weeks from the submission of the last document However the issuance of the visa can be delayed due to the background checks. No Permanent Resident visa is ever issued without the results for the background checks first being received, which can take up to 12 months for completion from the date of commencement.

However you may wish to contact the consulate to obtain confirmation regarding the reason of the delay in the issuance of the visa.
