Dear Mr. Cohen,At the outset, let me thank you for having this wonderful forum. Perhaps now I might find answers to my queries. My husband is a student in Canada. During his recent visit to India, we were married. When I applied for a visitor visa, I was refused twice. The reason I was told that I am a potential immigrant. They said all my papers were in order but you are a potential immigrant. Nothing was asked of me at the embassy about immigration. I was just asked our marriage details and proof of funds. I just want to spend some time with my husband and returnwith him upon graduation.
Can you please tell me what documents do I show that would prove I am not a potential immigrant. I do not have any substantial work experience since I am recent graduate. And I was just helping my father in his business until marriage. Now I am helping my father inlaw at his business. (Both are are businessmen, including my husband.)
My husband says that he would return to India without finishing his education - he still has one and half years to go. One one hand I want to be with my husband while on the other I do not want him to quit his education.
Is it possible for my husband to reapply for a student visa if he is allowed by his University to drop a semester so that I could be included in the application as a dependent? His current visa expires only in 2004.
