"Approval in Principle"

   Hi:

After an ordeal of years where a an H&C got turned down, a second H&C application with an additional sponsorship from inside of Canada by my common-law partner just got approved. The officer in the interview said it will be a few weeks before receiving a letter in the mail (he said 3 weeks)
Im wondering if that letter is what they call the "Approval in Principle letter" and at what point I can apply for a work permit.
Also, what follows after that and is there a chance to stil be turned down before getting PR. I have no criminal record and my medical should pass.

I would apprecciate any response that would calm my anxiety.

Cheers

If your interviewing officer approved your application at the interview, the letter he/she referred to should be the letter of approval in principle. It will indicate your eligibility to apply for a work permit. Unless there are medical or criminal issues, you should not have any problems receiving your Canadian Permanent Residency.
