"Previous history with Canadian Immigration authorities"
Hi Mr. Cohen,

This question is on behalf of a friend of mine who leaves in Boston and is from Senegal.
He has applied for Canadian PR through Buffalo. But last year he went on a trip to canada by bus and at the port of entry in St bernard Lacolle a paper allowing him to stay in canada for a maximum of 30 days was stamped in his passport, and he was suppose to submit it to the authorities before leaving Canada. on his way back, however, the bus driver would not stop at the canadian border saying that he had to stop only at the American custom at Champlain.

My friend came back to New York with the 30 days permit and gave it back to the Canadian Consulate in New York. There they told him that they will do their best to forward it to the St Bernard Lacolle authorities. Now he is anxious that this incident might harm his application.

What is your advise on this situation, how could that affect his application?

Thanks a lot.

It is unlikely that this will have any negative effect on a present application for permanent resident status. It appears he acted in good faith.
