"Handle the interview without spouse attendance?"

The spouse has gone to home country because of the expiry of the visa. Can only the principal attend the interview without problems? Thank you.

This depends on the specific visa office. Some visa offices state that the attendance of adult dependents is necessary, while others will exempt them if there is a reasonable explanation. In either case, a communication with the visa office may be required.
