"Idioms requirements"

Dear sirs, I've applied to a Permanent Resident as an skilled worker on March 2002 in Lima - Peru.
As the rules changed, I had to update some information and instead of having 86/70, I am around 76/75 points. One of the information updated was the TOEFL test results in which I had done pretty well, 263 in the computer based, Listening 25, structure/writing 28, reading 26 and 5.5 on the essay. I presented it on August 2002. Since then I haven't received any communication from the embassy and two weeks ago, surfing the web, I noticed that, in order to prove english abilities, I should take the IELTS exam. I did that a week ago but I think I didn't do very well. The listening part was very hard due to the english accent and no headphones were provided. Now I had to wait 3 months in order to take the exam again. Also I expect to be called to an interview in less than 3 months.
My question is if it should be better, if the results are not good, not to present the IELTS results. How do the embassy weight the TOEFL exam ? Please, help me.

Thanks in advance,

Gerardo Fernandez

Some evidence of language skills is a requirement at present. Although the TOEFL can be used, there is no formal equivalency being used officially by the immigration department. As such, there is no guarantee that a strong TOEFL score would award you maximum points for English on the language factor.
