"Medical Papers"
I have applied for permanent residence to Canada from the New Delhi office. I received my medical test papers in just 5 months. Does this mean that my interview has been waived? There is no mention of the interview waiver or request for any further documents. How long before I receive my visa?

Also, if my second child is born in Canada, does he or she become a citizen automatically? If so, how does that affect our status? Can we become citizens based on the child's status?

Thanks

Vishal Gulhati

In New Delhi, issuance of medical examination forms typically means that the immigration officials are satisfied with the selection issues. If this is done in advance of a selection interview, it would typically mean that the interview had been waived. The immigration officials can request a selection interview afterwards, however, if the circumstances warrant such. If all other requirements are fulfilled you would likely receive your landing documents within 4-5 months.

If your child is born in Canada, citizenship can be obtained automatically in most cases. This would not affect your status, however.

Thanks for your earlier reply

Based on the strength of the citizenship of my child, can we as parents also obtain citizenship?

Also, what is the likelihood that the 2 out of 5 yr law for maintaining PR will be enacted and also the 3 out of 6 yr law for obtaining citizenship?

Thanks very much

Vishal Gulhati

The citizsenship of a child would not automatically affect your status, as parents.

It is difficult to speculate as to how the final revisions of the Citizenship Act will appear.
