"Visa Stamped"

I owe big time to this moderated forum, one of the best and decent ones on Canadian immigration out there. Full points to Mr. Cohen and the other regular contributors.

I am glad to inform you that my family received the immigrant visae early last week. I had applied under the skilled worker category to RPC, Buffalo. My timeline is given below for those who might benefit:

Application sent - June 25, 2001

AOR - September 24, 2001

Initial assessment and medical forms issued - March 25, 2002

File transferred to Seattle for interview - April 12, 2002

Interview notice issued by Seattle office - September 19, 2002

Interview at Seattle Consulate - December 5, 2002

Medicals done - December 6, 2002

Letter instructing to pay ROLF - December 17, 2002

Final decision letter issued - January 27, 2003

Passports sent to Seattle consulate - February 12, 2003

Passports and other documents received from Seattle - February 19, 2003

I did not give any preference for interview location. I did not send fax enquiries about the status of my file either to Buffalo or Seattle. I ordered a copy of my CAIPS notes; it helped me understand the questions to expect during the interview. With few exceptions, my file status online was very uptodate.

Mr.AFD'Mello's candid mail on this forum sometime ago explaining his interview experience was very objective. The staff and the designated immigrtation officer at Seattle were very courteous and helpful.

Thanks and best of luck to all who are waiting.

Neil

Conducting the medical examination prior to the interview can save time in the conclusion of the application, but assumes that you will be successful.
