"Planning to get Married after Canadian Immigration"
I am planning to migrate by Feb.2001. I am a bachelor and planning to get married very soon. My parents want me to visit India and arrange wedding ceremony back home.

1. Can I immigrate to Canada and then leave the country for three-four months for my wedding. How will my wife's visa be processed.

2. Incase I am able to convince my parents - Can I immigrate to Canada and invite the prospect on visit visa. We get married in Canada. Is this possible.

Please advise,

Thanks and Regards,
Mathew

1. A 3-4 months absence after landing is not likely to have a negative effect on your status in Canada. Your spouse would have to be sponsored to obtain permanent resident status after the marriage.

If the marriage is conducted prior to the conclusion of your own application, then you may request that she be amended to the application.

2. If your spouse gains admission to Canada as a visitor after your landing in Canada, then you can marry and seek to sponsor her from within Canada.

Dear Cohen,

Thanks for your reply. Please advise which would be the best option of the three suggested by you.

1. Leave Canada and Sponsor her later. How much time will this take to process her Visa.

2. Get Married before and request for an amendment. How much time will this take to process an application.

3. Invite her on Visit and apply for Sponsorship after marriage. Will this be a quicker way to get Visa than the both options stated above.I understand sometimes Visit Visa are rejected.

Thanks once again. I would appreciate your advise on the above.

Kind Regards,
Mathew

Unfortunately, we cannot make that type of recommendation. It is well beyond the scope of this forum.
