My fiance is currently in the process of applying for Permanent Resident status in Quebec. In mid December, he received notification that he was on a waiting list for a selection interview in New York. Is there a typical length of time before they will notify you of the date of the interview? Also, I am aware of the backlog in Buffalo, but is it possible that the delay might be shorter since, at that stage, he will already have his Certificate of Selection from Quebec?

Once the CSQ is issued, the likelihood of an interview waiver via the Buffalo office is much higher. We have also found that Buffalo processes such cases in a more expedited manner since they are not responsible for the selection decision.
