"Immigration"

Dear Mr. Campbell Cohen,

I am planning for an immigration to Canada.
1.Two years back I had to undergo bypass surgery. Does it disqualify me from getting the PR on medical grounds.
2. With the latest immigration laws, I was told that new migrants are not allowed to land in cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, etc. They are being asked to go smaller towns or rural areas. Is it correct?

I would be greatful to you if you could answer my questions.

- Rohit

There are no restrictions on the destinations to which applicants are allowed to relocate.

A recent bypass operation could be serious enough to warrant medical inadmissibility. Determination of medical admissibility is made by a Medical Officer in consideration of all available information. It is not possible to absolutely determine this in advance.

If a condition does not pose a threat of excessive demand of the Canadian health-care system, and does not affect employability in your field, then it should not be grounds for inadmissibility. Additional information on this topic may be found at Campbell, Cohen's web site at the following URL:
