"same sex partner"

My same-sex partner is a relatively new landed immigrant in Montreal,Canada (from Eastern Europe). I am a US citizen. I want to move there with her. How can I do this? She is receiving social assistance at the moment, so I don't see her financially sponsoring me. What are my options? I do not have a job offer. Should we have a registered civil union in Canada to possibly help things along?

Under the circumstances, your most viable option at this time may be to seek admission in the Skilled Worker program. You may conduct an online assessment to determine your eligibility.
