"H1 Visa expires soon."

Dear Mr. Cohen,
I appreciate your efforts for hosting such an informative site.

My H1 visa in US will expire by Jan 2004. I want to apply for landed immigration in Canada as a skilled immigrant, and would like to know how many months the process will take. I have 8 years of software development experience, a bachelors in computer science from India and a MBA from one of the top schools in US.

When is the earliest that I can apply? Please advice. I look forward to hearing from you.

The application process will most likely require approximately 14 months if an interview can be avoided. If an interview is required, which can happen in even the best of cases, the process will likely require approximately 18 months. These estimates are based on current processing at the Buffalo office.

You should be applying as soon as possible based on the information provided.
