"waiting time in the Philippines?"

   Greetings!

My husband and I submitted our papers to the Canadian Embassy here in the Philippines last Oct 2001. By Jan 2002, we received our reference number and until now we haven't had any correspondence from the Canadian Embassy. One of our friends had their PR Visa granted in 11 months processing while our another friend is still waiting for his PR Visa to be granted for 18 months now. Does the Sept 11 terrorists attacks affected the delay in PR Visa processing? What average waiting time here in the Philippines?

Reply will be greatly appreciated

agy

as we all know, as of now, Canadian embassy in the Phils is closed due to terrorism issue. naturally, waiting time in the Phils will be longer than the standard service/waiting time announced by the embassy. we hope and pray that the they will open again soon.

The Canadian Embassy in Manila has an average processing time of 36 to 48 months if an interview is required. If the Personal Selection Interview is waived than the waiver is usually issued within the first 9 months after the AOR. If an interview is required, your file will automatically be put in interview queue to await for an interview. The Canadian Embassy indicates that you can receive the second communication from their office (waiver or necessity of interview letters) anywhere between 18 to 36 months from the date of submission.

Due to implementation of the new immigration regulations, the processing post is currently experiencing delays. As such it may take longer for applications to be reviewed and the decision regarding the necessity of an interview to be made.

The closure of the Canadian Embassy in Manila, Philippines affected the PR VISA processing significantly. I don't know if it is freeze-processing until the situation is back to normanl (which they don't know until when). Couldn't they just forward all the PR VISA application in Manila to other processing center so that PR application processing will progress?

   hi agy!!!

We share exactly the same sentiment now...like you i applied Oct2001, had my AOR Jan 2002...no words from the embassy after....have several friends who applied May 2001 and left Mar2002...i have requested my agency to check on my status as it is already beyond the quoted standard time in the canadian embassy website but it looks like they received no response. It looks like all the applications that were submitted near the Sept 11 date were experiencing the long delays...We will just hope and pray for the best..

we can probably compare notes as we are from the same country...you can email me at yve_ging@mozcom.com...thanks.

   Hi My Fellow Filipino Applicants,

I'm also from Phils but I didn't send my application in Manila as I'm working outside our country. I sent my application in CHC Singapore on Oct. 27, 2001 ; received my AOR on 22nd Nov. 01; received Notice of Interview on April 17th 2002; received Interview Schedule Notice on Nov 11,2002 and I'm scheduled for Interview on Dec. 10 2002.

The processing in Manila is longer due to numerous applicants as far as I know and sometimes it depends to applicants situation as well (like security reasons, financial standing and others).

So, just be patient and good luck to all of us and may God help us while we're in our native country and if we become an Immigrant to Canada as well.

God Bless Us all specially this very informative and helpful website of Mr. Cohen and Associates about Canada Migration...

   hello kabayans,
i have also applied for immigration to canada. submission was last july 2001. i got the AOR around october and the notice that i will be interviewed last february this year.
i have been visiting other websites and got the information from another filipino around october that CHC Manila was then interviewing the late 1999 applicants. so i believe, i will still have another year or 2 before i will be interviewed. as i am currently outside of the country for further studies, the schedule just fits me fine.
i hope you get your interview waivers soon.
good luck to all of all...
